Update about the Edmands/Edgell Road DevelopmentHappy Saturday! This Wednesday, February 18 at 6:00pm, the Council's Planning and Zoning Subcommittee will hear an update from J&Co on their conceptual plans for the Edmands/Edgell property. ​You can view their slide deck they'll be discussing at the meeting.​ The Proposal It basically looks like what they presented back in July. They are seeking to build 415 units with a mix of townhouses and multifamily units on 30 acres. Access will be from both Edmands and Edgell. Some of the units will be age restricted, some for ownership, others rental. What about MBTA Communities? Framingham is compliant with MBTA Communities. Yes, this development was proposed during the MBTA discussions, but it was also proposed before MBTA, too. Since it is not part of MBTA Communities, 8 votes on the Council are needed to change the zoning. It is also not a by-right project. Now, there is a process here - J&Co is asking the Planning and Zoning Subcommittee to start the process of rezoning the area. It will require that subcommittee, the Planning Board and the Council all to be involved. Planning and Zoning Meeting Information

Happy May! Monday was International Firefighters Day. That morning the community gathered for the groundbreaking of the Framingham Firefighters Memorial at Framingham Fire Department headquarters. The memorial will remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and those who lost their lives due to occupational illness.
